It’s my birthday today, and I’m feeling very depressed because nobody has sent me any birthday greetings.

Marco’s story is one of incredible resilience and transformation. Rescued by Stray Rescue of St. Louis in Missouri, Marco, a Pitbull, His face was swollen to three times its normal sizeMarco’s condition was dire.

The Beginning of Healing
When Marco was brought to the clinic, it was clear he needed urgent medical attention. He began antibiotics immediately, and within a few days, vets were able to drain and clean the wounds on his head, face, and legs. The swelling started to reduce, and the healing of his injuries and soul began. “It’s so good to see his true face,” rescuers shared.

A Rocky Road to Recovery
Despite the initial progress, Marco faced several setbacks. Two weeks after arriving at the clinic, the swelling in his face returned, necessitating a “skin flap procedure” on his arm and surgery on one leg. He underwent another operation to have the abscesses cleaned and drains put in. Despite the physical challenges, Marco’s upbeat attitude never wavered. “His face may still be swollen, but his spirit remains high,” rescuers said.

Marco’s Transformation
Over the first month and a half of his new life, Marco fought hard against the odds. He endured multiple medical procedures but never lost his happy spirit. When he was finally cleared to go to a foster home, his rescuers noted, “This is one happy boy. He sure loves to make us smile!”

Finding a Foster Home
Marco met his foster family and quickly adjusted to his new environment. His foster mom, Katie, was thrilled with how well he adapted. “Marco’s first night and morning have been a success. He takes his medicine like a perfect angel, has a healthy appetite, and went potty outside. When I sit with him, he wants to be as close as possible, even if that means sitting in my lap,” Katie shared.

Despite having to wear a cone, Marco never complained. It was as if he understood he had been saved and appreciated the second chance at happiness. “He takes his medicine like a perfect angel and is so loving,” Katie said.

The Search for a Forever Family
After spending almost two months with his foster family, Marco found his forever home. He spent his days healing, playing, and learning what love truly meant. His foster family adored him and reported that he was “Getting spoiled and loving every second of it.”

Celebrating His Sixth Birthday
Three and a half months after his initial rescue, Marco was adopted by his forever family. His rescuers were ecstatic to announce the news and shared an update on his medical progress: “His leg is almost fully healed but still requires some bandage changes. He had a long, hard road to recovery, but his amazing, loving attitude made him the best patient ever.”

As Marco celebrates his sixth birthday, he is a picture of happiness and health. He loves his new family and his new life, which is filled with love, care, and plenty of spoiling. Marco’s transformation from a severely injured bait dog to a beloved family member is truly heartwarming.
