Forced to live outdoors under a tarp with a space heater for warmth, Lucy had recently given birth to two tiny puppies. When the fire broke out, Lucy’s protective instincts drove her to stay by her puppies’ side, refusing to flee even as the flames closed in. Sadly, despite her brave efforts, her puppies did not survive. Rescuers arrived to find Lucy alive but severely burned, a heartbreaking testament to her unwavering devotion.

The veterinarians at VCA Norwalk stepped in immediately, providing life-saving care to this brave dog. Lucy’s survival was nothing short of miraculous, a testament to her strength and the kindness of those who refused to give up on her.
