Today is my birthday but no one has remembered to send me a happy wish.

My birthday is today, but I’m depressed since nobody has remembered to send me a nice greeting.In a forgotten corner of the local garbage dump, I saw a small, weak dog. Its ribs showed through its thin coat, and it was painfully clear that it had been abandoned and left to fend for itself. The poor dog’s eyes looked hollow with hunger and exhaustion. It wandered around the piles of trash, sniffing through scraps, hoping to find even the smallest bite to eat.

The dog’s fur was matted and dirty, with patches missing, and it moved slowly as if every step took immense effort. Its body was trembling slightly, and despite being surrounded by garbage, it seemed lost and utterly out of place. It appeared terrified and hesitant, perhaps unsure if it could trust anyone after being left behind.

As I approached slowly, the dog looked up, eyes full of sadness but also a glimmer of hope, as if it was pleading for a chance at survival. I offered it some food I had brought along, and after a few moments of hesitation, it cautiously approached and began to eat, savoring every bite as though it might be its last.

I knew that I couldn’t just leave this poor creature behind. The dog needed care, warmth, and kindness. So, with a gentle hand, I coaxed it closer, hoping it would trust me. As I lifted it carefully, it relaxed in my arms, exhausted but finally safe. Taking it away from the harsh, lonely life it had known, I promised to help it heal and give it the home and love it deserved. This abandoned dog’s resilience and spirit touched my heart deeply, a reminder of the importance of compassion for those who have no one else to care for them.

She took a closer look at the dog. “Oh, you’re not in great shape, are you, buddy?” she murmured softly, saddened to see the condition the poor dog was in. The stray’s fur was matted, with bits of grass tangled into it. Cara gently removed the grass and debris, comforting the dog as she worked to clean it up a bit.

“Alright, there you go, that’s a little better,” she said, giving the dog a few soothing pats. She couldn’t help but smile as the dog looked up at her with trusting eyes, its gentle wag suggesting that maybe, just maybe, it sensed it had finally found someone who cared.

“Hey there, honey,” she whispered softly, happy that the dog seemed to feel safe in her presence. For Cara, this encounter marked the beginning of what she hoped would be a journey to give this gentle, neglected soul the love and care it deserved.
